Skill 2A
Addition Facts: Sums 0 to 2
Many students have a difficult time mastering addition
facts so we've broken it down into groups according to
difficulty. The goal should be to eventually have your student answer
these facts from memory, although this doesn't typically happen until
later grades. In the meantime, students often need to
calculate the answer by counting objects of some type. Although counting small objects is usually done in the beginning stages of teaching
addition, we prefer the
student use fingers for counting (fingers are always with the child unlike other counting
objects). If too much time is taken in calculating answers, the skill
should receive additional practice.
